We have been experimenting with my newsletter, and with the Crossroad Press newsletter. We had a Substack that we canceled because we didn’t want to share space with the extreme right wing sites they support. We moved to Beehiiv but it became clear they were focused on nothing at all but marketing, money, and AI, and it was a bad fit, so that site is shut down. I’m going back to posting here on my website, and we’ll be keeping the Crossroad Press site updated as well. I still have our mailing list, but not sure how to safely use it without killing off another email address. May have to try a plugin that will simply mail out posts.
Enough of that. My story, Darkness and the Ligh, was published a long time ago in an anthology titled The Gossamer Eye that won the Bram Stoker Award. It was poetry and prose, and we won for poetry, myself, Rain Graves, and Mark McLaughlin. When The Book of Dagon came along, I revised that story, because I never felt it was complete. The revised version just came out in this new anthology, and it’s available now in eBook and paperback. The unabridged audiobook will be produced this fall.
I kind of pulled back from this site while writing Coyne House and never got back, mostly due to the abovementioned newsletter we aren’t doing any longer. Coyne House is being marketed by my agent, along with Tattered Remnants, but that has me in another situation I’m not happy with. I need more new things coming out. I sold a novella, Non-0, to a market I can’t mention yet. There is a new edition of something older coming out next year that will get real distribution, and I’m working on a new Cletus J. Diggs novel that will be marketed to the big publishers as a stand-alone. Giving nothing away but… there might be werewolves in Old Mill.
I will also be collecting the Cletus and Donovan stories where they fight Lovecraftian evil together, including “The Dun WHAT? Horror,” “All the Way Up,” “The Feller in Yeller,” and more. There will be at least one new, unpublished story in that book. I will probably collect the stories with Edgar Allan Poe as a character as well.
We have 11 cats again. We rescued a kitten, Blue, from the local shelter to harrass some of our older cats into mobility, particularly Pants, who was looking like a watermelon. He’s down two pounds, and things are a lot more active.
